I don't claim to have the answers and my lens, like everyone's is both accurate and flawed. Also, this book is very transparent with potentially sensitive content told with dark humor—because that's me. Please consider this before reading. I certainly want this book to cause any harm.
It took years of internal wrestling to finish this book. And, to be honest, I'm terrified for anyone who knows me to read it (you'll understand why from page one and will be reminded why on every page that follows).
It's the very serious, irreverent, darkly humorous tale of my specific journey with an "accidental" eating disorder and the in-patient treatment center I unknowingly found myself trapped in.
I call my experience accidental because it doesn't look like what people think of when it comes to eating disorders. I have very real food allergies and sensitivities that led me to a place of starvation, and ultimately to form the same habits common among eating disorder sufferers. It has been a terrifying but also absurd journey that I have no choice but at times to laugh at (when you are forced to sing, Let it go from Frozen as a grown adult, under the threat of losing privileges such as a closed bathroom door, you must find the humor).
My hope is that this book finds those who can use it—for comfort, to realize they are not alone in the bizarre things that can happen to our bodies and brains, and to disrup
